YOUR BIBLE

Because your Bible is so important, we have prepared some guidelines to help you get the most from it.
Sadly, most Christians do not read their bible enough. Most have never read it all the way through and most haven't got a clue how many books are in it or what order they are in.

Even if they were to open it, how would they best study it? What aids should they use?

Indeed, you might ask yourself "Which is best, a concordance or bible dictionary? What type of commentaries should I buy?"

But first, let us look at the bible itself, in particular the translation we use at SMC

Why do we use the New International Version? (NIV)

The New International Version (NIV), which is the most popular bible translation in use at the moment, benefits from being published during the mid-1970s when everyone else was reading bibles with archaic language inside.

It quickly rose to fame as people saw a chance to read something broadly accurate in modern contemporary language. It has since been universally adopted worldwide. It is ideal for personal study.
